So, it’s 2015 and this years goal is a minimum of 1500 miles. It’s March and while it’s a sunny Sunday afternoon, it’s bloody cold! But, I’m out for the 3rd time this month and today is bloody hard going. As a matter of fact, pretty much all the rides this month have been harder going than I anticipated. Still, I’m out, gritted teeth, racking up the miles. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not putting in as many as I would like to, but it’s better than last years initial efforts. On a brighter not, today is the first time I’ve taken the time to sit at my favorite blogging spot near Goytre Wharf and write this post.
It’s places and times like this where I appreciate the simple things in life. Sure, it’s great buying new toys and gadgets, but being fit and healthy and able to do this type of thing at the drop of a hat is truly priceless. Modern life is all about hustle and bustle and you can easily lose sight of the little things that make you happy.
The last few months have definitely been like that for me. My company has taken a bit of a financial battering since Christmas and the last couple of weeks have been very stressful to say the least. We’re nowhere near out of the woods, but I can certainly appreciate these moments of peacefulness where it’s just me, my music and the constant scratching of the rubble track under my slowly deflating tyre!
No matter what your daily life deals you, treasure these moments! Take every opportunity to get them in your life and don’t forget how lucky you are to be fit, healthy and able!
